    Glaciation and deglaciation of the Stump Cross area, Yorkshire Dales, northern England, determined by terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide (10Be) dating.

    Terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide (l0Be) surface-exposure ages are reported for three glacially-transported gritstone boulders and one glacially-scoured exposure of gritstone bedrock in the vicinity of Stump Cross Caverns, North Yorkshire. Although the ages do not form a statistically consistent cluster, three of them nevertheless indicate that the transport and deposition of boulders was by ice of the last (Late Devensian) glaciation. The ages provide evidence for glacier ice at the Wharfe-Nidd interfluve, in contrast to previously held views that these uplands had remained above the level of the last ice sheet. The youngest of the three ages on boulders (-18.5 ka) is taken as the best estimate for déglaciation of the area. This is consistent both with surface-exposure ages from sites elsewhere around the southern margin of the Yorkshire Dales and with uranium-series dated speleothems in Stump Cross Caverns. Together these results reveal that déglaciation of the Dales was most likely well advanced by ~18-16 ka, facilitating the rejuvenation of surface and subsurface karstic processes

    We report on migrating multiple-lane link into an L-band VCSEL-based WDM system. Experimental validation achieves successful transmission over 10 km of SMF at 4x14Gbps. Inter-channel crosstalk penalty is observed to be less than 0.5 dB and a transmission penalty around 1 dB. The power budget margin ranges within 6 dB and 7 dB

To access the final edited and published work see http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.jpcc.6b03117, see http://pubs.acs.org/page/policy/articlesonrequest/index.html".[EN] Using a combination of experimental and computational methods, mainly FTIR and DFT calculations, new insights are provided here in order to better understand the cleavage of the C–C bond taking place during the complete oxidation of ethanol on platinum stepped surfaces. First, new experimental results pointing out that platinum stepped surfaces having (111) terraces promote the C–C bond breaking are presented. Second, it is computationally shown that the special adsorption properties of the atoms in the step are able to promote the C–C scission, provided that no other adsorbed species are present on the step, which is in agreement with the experimental results. In comparison with the (111) terrace, the cleavage of the C–C bond on the step has a significantly lower activation energy, which would provide an explanation for the observed experimental results.     Caracterización petrográfica y petrofísica de la roca encajante de la Cueva del Rull (Vall d'Ebo, Alicante)

    La Cueva del Rull se encuentra en el sector nororiental de la Cordillera Bética, en el denominado Prebético Externo de Alicante (Azema 1977). Regionalmente, la zona de estudio está dominada por la dinámica compresiva de los materiales calizos existentes (Cretácico Superior) afectados, desde el Mioceno Medio y durante el Mioceno Superior, por diversos movimientos tectónicos a partir de los cuales se origina la Depresión de la Vall d'Ebo. Esta fosa tectónica, cuyos bordes norte y sur quedan delimitados por fallas normales con dirección aproximada E-O, está rellena por materiales rudíticos de edad Mioceno Superior, predominantemente conglomeráticos, de espesor variable (decenas a más de 100 metros), localmente plegados y depositados sobre margas de facies “tap” (margas mal estratificadas de carácter arcillo-limoso, desagregadas y de color blanquecino en superficie, cuya edad se atribuye al Mioceno Medio).Este trabajo ha sido financiado por el proyecto CGL2011-25162 del Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad.     Active cervical range of motion in babies with positional plagiocephaly: Analytical cross-sectional study

    Positional plagiocephaly (PP) is a general term describing cranial distortion from preor postnatal forces on the infant head. Abnormal intrauterine forces, multiple births, primiparous mothers, obstetric interventions, prematurity, male sex, excessive time lying in the supine position, and mobility restrictions of the cervical spine have been considered as the main predisposing factors. The objective was to investigate the association between the severity of PP and the active cervical rotation and to analyze the influence of predisposing factors in babies with PP. An analytical crosssectional study was performed on 74 babies with moderate PP. Clinical and demographic data, cranial vault asymmetry, and active cervical rotation range of motion (ROM) were measured. Associations were analyzed with generalized linear models. The mean age was 16.8 ± 5.0 weeks, and 56.8% were male. A restriction in the ROM of active cervical rotation, especially to the left side, was observed. Our models showed that cranial asymmetry was related with left active cervical rotation ROM (p = 0.034) and with being transported in a pushchair (p < 0.001). Conclusions: An increased severity of PP was related with being transported in a baby pushchair and with a reduced active cervical rotation ROM toward the most restricted side. © 2021 by the authors.     This paper provides a theoretical and empirical analysis of an under-explored consequence of granting autonomy to workers: monitoring. In the principal-agent model that we develop, granting autonomy allows workers to carry out innovative tasks in the workplace. Given that innovative tasks are more difficult to monitor, the model predicts a positive relationship between autonomy and monitoring. Relying on information about blue-collar workers coming from a dataset of Spanish industrial plants, we provide strong support for this prediction
